The response on social media has been overwhelming with thousands of comments from people heartbroken for Dusten Brown.

Bessie wrote on the FOX23 Facebook page:  "You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I could not begin to imagine the emptiness that you feel over not having your precious daughter in your arms. One day she will be back in your arms."

Angela echoed that, writing: "That takes such a strong person to do what he just did. No matter your feelings on this case, you can't see that and doubt his love for her. Blessings and prayers to you, Dusten, as you go forward."

A photo was posted on the Facebook site called "Standing Our Ground for Veronica Brown" with the following comment:

"I imagine her red car bigger, her bags packed. She will be sick of cookies by then so she'll bring other snacks. She will head home, to Oklahoma."

Kim wrote: "Believe me one day that beautiful little girl will finally see all that has transpired and will be back home on her own terms."

And Meagan: "Well I’ve got tears streaming down my face at work. I hope someday this man gets his baby back."

Others though are just ready for all of this to be over.

Robert writing: "Will this story ever go away?"

And another Megan: "I personally feel, as someone who is adopted, let it be...if we don't let this go it will eventually hurt her more in the end. Just let the baby be and live her life!!!!"

then he should have filed for his rights when she was born not until after she was adopted out. if he was a real man that little girl would have been in his arms from the day she was born. it doesn't matter if he wasnt with her mom, parental rights are there if he claimed her upon birth not after she was adopted.

Can't sign your rights away before the birth and no he never signed his rights away. If that was the case, SC wouldn't have terminated his rights so they could hurry and push the adoption through in July of this year after Veronica had been living in OK for almost 2 years.

im so sick and tired of all the "poor father" bs in te media. HE SIGNED HIS RIGHTS AWAY TO IS WIFE BEFORE SHE WAS EVEN BORN!!!!!!!!!! he is a coward and useless, all tis mess is because the racist Indians tribes didn't like the fact that a non-indian family adopted her.

SC adoption code states that the child being adopted must reside within the state, regardless of where born, at the time the petition for adoption is filed. The petition for adoption was filed 3 days after Veronica was born and while Veronica was still in OK. The Capobianco's didn't leave OK with Veronica until approx. 8 days after she was born. I guess the codes and laws only apply when it suits a purpose.
