I'm not at all surprized they were'nt charged, I predicted a week ago that they would'nt be....money talks, but they have to live with their decision, and I have a feeling they will be punished by a higher power "Whatsoever ye do unto the least of these, do ye also unto me".

This is a miscarriage of justice. If the judge was constrained by evidence they should have been found not guilty. I have personally talked to the grandmother of the girl who was supposedly raped. She had custody of the child until about a month before it happened. The Daughertys did try to contact them. And the fact remains the only information they did have was that the little girl was texting a boy some inappropriate material. They didn't even know who she was for two weeks And when they found out and confronted her then she screamed rape. She had planned to meet the boy in that hallway. I also know the cop who took their statement. He was on the grounds the very night they found out the truth and they went straight to him. None of this makes it okay what the boy did to the girl. He is the only one who committed a crime here. I now have zero respect for Tim Harris or the Tulsa DA.

Granted you have a very valid point. I know she didn't work at the church. In fact, I know the girl. She waited a while before reporting what had happened. She wasn't bothered by what transpired, it was her parents, and rightfully so. But that's neither here nor there. Now, there really isn't any need to get sarcastic. This should be a conversation between two adults. I'm not trying to soften the blow to them, I'm just offering the other, less known side.

Well that's great that an employer had a minute to think it over before butting into someone else's business. In real life (as shocking as it may seem to you) the victim was not an employee and was rightfully entitled to immediate protection from the law. The first thing that comes to my mind in this case is obstruction of the law. Then there is always someone trying to soften the incident with employers rights. The child was not an employee. So please stop with employers rights. :-(

@Mayor, I was anticipating a comment from you. I rather enjoy your views and posts on the various news topics. I'll be the first to tell you that I would want something done immediately. I would want to know the details ASAP. However, there was a statute that said employers had the opportunity to wait a max of 30 days. The law changed to immediately. I'm not disagreeing with you at all. I'm just choosing to keep my personal feelings out of this and look at it from all sides, rather than just what the media posts. Altho, I do find 23 to be more reliable and more fair than other channels.

So a five year deferred sentence is not a get out of jail free card. Between now and the end of that sentence if the citizen charged with that sentence gets even a traffic ticket then that deferrment is lifted and the defendant will have to serve thecremainder of that time plus whatever penalty etc etc

@firemike :-) So if your daughter/sister/wife, were/was defiled tonight, how many days would you want/expect me to wait before I told you/them?? @NY chance that you would opt for ASAP just for the sake of forensics? But I'm down with waiting a week or two if that's all right with you #:->

@t town: I respectfully disagree with you. All that we know is what the news has reported, which is one side. But have you gotten their side of the story? And I'm not talking about what the news reports as their side. It's easy to point fingers and place blame, but is that right? Yes they should have reported it earlier, but a previous OK law stated that the alleged crime was to be reported within a 30 day period. Could they have been following under that law? Could they have not been up to date on current law? Or could they have just disregarded the law entirely? We don't know. We haven't heard their side. Now as far as leadership responsibility goes, I agree with you completely. Just remember to get all sides before forming an opinion.
