A man walking across the street to get dinner is shot and killed in North Tulsa.

Tulsa police say the 21-year-old H&R employee, LaHarry "L.J." Myers, walked across the street in the 4800 block of North Peoria to get food and was shot multiple times.

The shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. Monday night. EMSA pronounced Myers dead on the scene.

Detectives say there were several calls to 911 about shots fired but few witnesses.

"We have different reports of people leaving the area quickly but that happens a lot. Any bystanders that are close when shots are fired they typically leave the scene as quick as they can," said Captain Dave Roberts.

Homicide detectives are investigating if this is a random shooting and do not know the motive or have suspect descriptions.

Police say other employees were inside H&R Block during the shooting but police say they were not a witness. However, police believe there were other witnesses.

All i can say is if anyone wants to see how prosperous the Willie Lynch method is, come to Tulsa. I'm born and raised in Tulsa and the black community is small enough that in most cases I know the suspect and the victim. It's almost been 100 years since the blackwall street riot and black people in tulsa haven't bounced back yet? too busy being new school slaves. orchestrating internal genocide thus making gentrification inevitable. exemplifying that 3/5 human being, making Harriet, Fredrick, Booker T., Malcolm, Martin, Bob and Huey turn in their graves to see from heaven little black boys killing eachother operating willingly in opposition to what they died for. alright my young brothers at this rate its going to be only 2 brothers left in tulsa literally. its already only about 5,000 left and a third of them locked up. forgive them father for they know not what they do.

If you are a witness or testify you become a target and you and your family are in danger. If you testify your identity becomes known to the bad guys and a .357 won't offer you much protection. You can't avoid every encounter as you go about your life.

Perhaps if the court system kept these "killers" in jail for more than a few months, people would be willing to come forward more often. Knowing that their testimony is most certainly known by the killer(s) and their friends is no comfort to those folks with family to protect and provide for. Is it good to not come forward, of course not. But until folks can be made to feel safe afterward, its not likely that folks are going to step forward to have their families pictures put on any target list.

It is a shame it is this way, but if I was those detectives, I wouldn't hold my breath until a witness comes forward, people on the North side would rather have their friends, family and relations killed than help the police, the no snitch rule keeps the crime going on the North side, and we all lose not only our freedom, but the opportunity to feel safe and secure in our own homes because of this out dated, ignorant practice, when the cops are taking killers, robbers and rapist off the street, it doesn't help the cops, it only helps the people who live in that area, the cops don't live there, and they don't care one way or another, it is just less work for them and one report less they have to do if they don't arrest anyone at all, maybe someday my neighbors will come to see that it only benefits them if these criminals are removed from the streets, until then, I will just keep my .357 close at hand.
