A Union High School student is arrested on a complaint he took a picture of a student with special needs using the restroom and posting it to Twitter.
An arrest report said deputies with the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office were called to Union High School on Wednesday after several students saw the picture posted on Twitter.
The Sheriff’s Office arrested 18-year-old Jonathan David Devito for child pornography, distributing child pornography, computer crimes and electronic Peeping Tom.
The arrest report said several students were upset about the picture posted on Twitter and shared their concerns with a teacher. That teacher went to the assistant principal who contacted authorities.
The spokesperson for Union Public Schools issued this statement:
“At Union we take the safety and dignity of our students very seriously. When we were made aware of an incident at the High School this afternoon, we immediately took the appropriate steps to protect the well-being of our students. We have notified the appropriate parties and law enforcement officials. Since this is a confidential matter involving our students, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) prohibits us from commenting any further."
Devito has not be officially charged.
