New Year's Eve is one of the biggest party nights of the year and one of the most dangerous on the road.

Dozens of state and local law enforcement will be on the road and inside bars keeping an eye on party goers and bartenders and underage drinkers.

Inside the bars will be uniformed officers who will be making a presence.

“We do a walk thru and we are there for five minutes and anyone in five minutes can be straight for five minutes. They don’t get up and go to the bathroom. They don’t do anything else,” said ABLE Agent Erik Smoot.

However, there will be plenty of undercover officers in plain clothes to watch what is really going on.

“We see the people who are really intoxicated, we see the people the employees should tell who are really intoxicated and we sit there long enough to see them served. We see the criminal activity happening so we can make good arrests and hold people responsible,” said Smoot.

For the third year in a row, this safety initiative is working to keep everyone safe.

Last year, between 7pm and 3am there was not one single crash on the roadway during New Year’s Eve celebrations.

“That’s city, county or state. That is unprecedented that has never happened so we are making a difference,” said Smoot.

Last year with 60 officers saturating the Tulsa area there were 12 DUI arrests. Officers will be during the initiative until 3am and officers on the street will be out all night.
