NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - The University of Oklahoma has agreed to provide funding to keep the tower at Max Westheimer Airport open.

The tower is one of 149 nationwide that is to be closed because of federal budget cuts.

OU President David Boren said Tuesday that OU will provide funding to keep the tower open and operating until the budget issue is resolved. No cost estimate was provided.

OU says non-appropriated money from auxiliary funds will be used to staff the tower from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
