The Indian Child Welfare Act needs to be changed because it does not consider what's in the best interests of the children. It is forcing children out of foster and adoptive homes that they have lived in for months and years just because they are Indian or part Indian (Veronica is just over 1% Indian) and because the foster homes are not Indian! Because of the Indian Child Welfare Act, Veronica's mother legally could only place her daughter in an Indian adoptive home, even though the mother is not Indian. This is not right!
