Two people are in jail accused of brutally attacking the Tahlequah Police Chief's stepdaughter during a home invasion.

34-year-old Leon Howard and 22-year-old Erik Claphan have been arrested. Five others are still on the run.

"It was severe,” said Tahlequah Police Detective Jeff Haney. “She was struck in the forehead."

FOX23 is not showing the photos taken after the attack because they are too graphic. Police say last week a disagreement over what they believe to be drugs led to a home break-in here.

"That's really taking it to the extreme,” Haney said. “When there is a dispute between people like this we don't need anyone getting hurt."

Police say just before ten Thursday night seven people kicked the door in and ran into the home. They beat up the young woman and stole some items, like stereos and TVs.

The victim declined to speak. Family members say they're just a private family but do want justice after the victim was attacked in front of two young boys.

“They need to work it out in a better way," said Haney.
