Muskogee police told FOX23 a gas station clerk and a taxi driver were both robbed at gunpoint Wednesday.
FOX23 found out from police one robbery happened in the morning and the other robbery happened at night.
Cpl. Michael Mahan with Muskogee Police said, “There certainly are similarities in the two robberies.”
Police said cell phones and cash taken were taken from both victims.
“At this time, we’re looking into that possibility (of them being connected) but we haven't made a firm connection yet,” said Mahan.
The first robbery, Mahan told FOX23, happened early Wednesday morning when a clerk at a Kum & Go gas station was doing work outside.
Mahan said, “A gentleman approached him, pointed a firearm at him.”
Police said the man took the clerk inside the store and took money and the clerk's cellphone.
Wednesday night, just down the street from the gas station, a taxi driver picked up the man police said later robbed him.
Police said the taxi driver picked up someone at an apartment complex in East Muskogee and dropped him off at another apartment complex just a few miles away in central Muskogee.
“As the individual was about to exit the cab, he produced a firearm, pointed it at the driver,” Mahan told FOX23.
He said police K-9s were called in and they used video surveillance to find the suspect.
Mahan added, “We also called one of our officers that’s a member of the FBI violent crimes task force. They also responded to the scene.”
Police arrested 19-year-old Javon Perry for the armed robbery of the taxi driver.
As for the robbery at the gas station, police told FOX23’s Price McKeon they are still looking for a suspect.
Mahan said no one was injured during either robbery.
