Complaints continue to circulate about tall grass across Tulsa.

"This is what you call out of hand," said City Councilor Jack Henderson.

Henderson said now, residents won't stop calling him, especially drivers. They can't see where they're going.

"This is a city-wide problem," said Henderson.

"That's why I stay indoors, to keep myself safe," said Troy Williams.

For months, critters have been slithering out of feet of overgrowth and heading next door, into Williams' East Tulsa yard.

"We're talking about rats, snakes, that's what I'm calling rodents and mosquitoes," said Williams.

Williams has stacked up complaints all summer long.

"You're darn right," said Williams.

Williams said the city has ignored the issue. Now a cry for help highlights the problem. A white cloth banner stretches across the front of the house with a message: "The city won't cut me."

"So maybe the city will listen to this," said neighbor, Dana.

"Why can't we get this grass cut," said Henderson.

FOX23 found out this year the City of Tulsa has resolved more than 7,000 nuisance abatement complaints. The city has mowed at a cost to residents for overgrowth.

"We pay taxes, we pay taxes," said Dana.

Dana said she doesn't understand why the city doesn't lead by example.

"If we lived up on the high end where they have those $100,000 homes they'd listen, or $250,000 homes," said Dana.

Henderson said this issue is on the agenda for Thursday's council meeting. Henderson said he believes the issue will be resolved soon.

I live close, doesn't bother me as much as all of the tree debris stacked up on the curbs still not picked up by the city.... how long has it been???? not to mention that at most of the houses sits a truck that could've hauled the debris to the green waste dump. People are getting lazy and expecting someone to step in and take care of things for them... LAZY.... The city has bigger problems than to deal with one house that the grass gets a little tall.. Maybe you should have gotten off your rear and mowed it.... I had the same problem a couple of years ago, Lowe's sells a great grass killer... Quit crying to the city and mind your own business....

Heaven forbid they mow it themselves...I guess complaining is more effective than actual physical work.
