A volunteer with the Tulsa Area Chapter of the American Red Cross is going to Florida to support Red Cross relief efforts in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Debby.

She will be working with the Red Cross Disaster Public Affairs team, helping to communicate vital information about accessing Red Cross services to those in need, and keeping the communities-at-large informed about Red Cross disaster relief and recovery efforts.

The Red Cross is giving critical help to people in need because of raging wildfires in the west and severe flooding in the southeast. In Florida, more than 200 trained disaster workers and 20 response vehicles are currently supporting relief efforts by providing safe shelter, warm meals and distributing relief supplies such as flashlights, work gloves, rakes, shovels and tarps.

Red Cross is encouraging those who want to help people affected by disasters such as wildfires and floods to make a financial donation to American Red Cross Disaster Relief by visiting www.okredcross.org or texting the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
