Home surveillance cameras caught a thief swapping out stolen packages in a south Tulsa neighborhood.

A FOX23 viewer contacted the newsroom to help catch the crook.

Tulsa police said package thieves have no boundaries on where they hit and when they hit. They said stopping them hinders on having watchful neighbors and cameras to catch them.

In the video a driver in a silver Hyundai pulled up into the driveway as if he lived there and the backseat looks like it's filled with packages.

The video shows him get out with one of package in his hand. Police said he may have done that to look like a delivery man.

Police said the man then drops a package on the porch and takes another one.

"I hated to see someone being caught like that and then getting away with it,” said Casey Ward, a friend of the victim.

Ward contacted FOX23 news when he saw the surveillance video.

"Figured I would help and see if there was anything I do to help find those guys for him," he said.

Ward said the victim had more than $400 worth of medicines and nutritional items swiped off his porch.

"I've had stuff stolen before and it leaves you wondering who and why,” Ward said.

Police said what makes this crime odd is that the man exchanged the package with another stolen package. Police have returned that package, a photo album, to the rightful owner.

Police want to identify the couple in the video.

“If you can't catch them if you have a good picture of them what can you do?” said Ward.

Police recommend if you are expecting a package, have it sent to your work or to a place where you know someone will be home.

You can also get notifications from carriers to track deliveries.

Swapping one stolen package for another? What's in it for him? Seems like a weird way to waste time.
