Tulsa police detectives think two burglaries and a sexual assault are related.

Both happened in the early morning hours and both in apartment complexes near 61st and Garnett streets.

Alain Johnson has lived at Sugarberry apartments for more than a year but never knew about the man who entered through a patio door and sexually assaulted someone in her complex.

"But unfortunately that's the way things are today," she said.

The other incident happened at the Greens of Bedford Apartments. Police report the man climbed through a bedroom window and was touching a woman's leg at 4 a.m. when she woke and he ran.

Judy Brown lives in the complex and never knew.

"That's the reason I don't open windows here," she said.

She told FOX23 it's not right that she was never informed.

"I do think it's very important that they do either put in on a bulletin or let us know because we can be more aware," she said.

She fears not just for her own safety, but her grandchildren living with her.

"One just turned 6, 7, and one just turned 14 and if I had them with me or if somebody came in what do you do? What could happen to your children?" she said.

FOX23 contacted Case and Associates. They own both of the complexes and more than 30 across Tulsa.

We were told they could not confirm or deny having any type of policy about notifying tenants about such crimes.

The people at the leasing office said all Case and Associates complexes have security officers that patrol from 6 p.m. through 6 a.m.

But some people said that's not enough.

"Hearing noises or things at night that we can be more aware to get up and go look," said Brown.

"Definitely bring us to awareness, make us aware about things that are going on," said Johnson.

In both incidents police said the suspect also stole property from the victim's home. Police want anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
