Tulsa police arrested a man they say used an iron rod to maim another man on Sunday.

Police arrested Calvin Bakel around 6:30pm in the 1300 block of North Newton St. They say the victim’s wife identified Bakel as the man who caused harm to her husband. Police say witnesses also said Bakel was fighting with the victim and hit him with a long iron rod.

Police say Bakel was found with a large amount of blood on his pants, chest and face but had no injuries. Police say the victim had injuries including parts of his scalp and one of his ears missing.

Bakel faces one charge of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of maiming. Police say he also had a prior felony conviction.

Only the military and police have any business possessing iron rods. Also, Homeland security, Fish & Game, and the IRS.
