A stand off in east Tulsa ended with a home invasion suspect in custody and taken to the hospital.
Tulsa police officers surrounded a house near 7th and Maplewood early Monday morning. Police say the homeowner heard a knock in the door around 7 Monday morning, but did not see anyone at the door. Police say the suspect, identified as Robert Dee Rankin, then forced his way into the home.
Police say at that point the homeowner pulled a gun and shot Rankin at least once in the stomach and ran from the house to call for help. The homeowner told police there was a loaded shot gun in the house, which is when police surrounded the house.
Police surrounded the house and finally used pepper balls to get Rankin in custody. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
