Tulsa police arrested a man they said was riding a horse while intoxicated and had a child on the horse with him.

Police arrested Dennis Byers on complaints of child neglect and public intoxication. Police said they were called to the 2200 block of east 56th Street North around 8 p.m. on Monday night.

According to the arrest report Byers had a three year old child with him on the horse, but could not say where the child’s family was, or the child’s last name. The child is now in DHS custody.

Police said Byers told them he’d had a drink at 4 and 5 p.m. Police also said Byers is on probation in Missouri for child endangerment.

Just want to make people aware that whoever reported this may have saved this child significant trauma. I'm not saying this is the case here, but this sounds very much like a possible child-trafficking situation. Believe it or not, parents do traffic their own children. And Yes! Even in Tulsa!! Please explain to me why else a parent (even an unfit parent) would allow a child to ride off on a horse with an intoxicated stranger! IF he was honestly considering purchasing the horse, doesn't it make more sense that the FATHER would be the one riding the horse with the child? My point to saying this is... PLEASE report suspicious things, especially if it pertains to a child! There are anonymous and free phone numbers to call to report any suspicion of trafficking. How else will we protect children?
