On Sunday evening, Tou Yang went to his car at an apartment complex near 61st and Highway 169 to get his laptop.

As he got closer, he told FOX23 he immediately knew something wasn't right.

“I heard some footsteps running towards me and I turned around and by the time I realized it, I had gotten hit by a block of wood,” said Yang.

He said he tried to fight back, but was no match for the four men hitting him.

“The third person came by and hit me in the face and got my nose and got my lip and the other guy just put me in a chokehold. The fourth guy came by and took my hands and he just ripped the keys out of my hand and took off in my car," he said.

The four guys took off, leaving Yang crumpled on the ground.

Police said the suspects changed the license plate on Yang’s car.

Tulsa police said one of the suspects ended up crashing the car on Monday near 61st and Garnett, totaling it.

“He lost control and hit a steel brace around an electrical box," said Yang.

For Yang, the odds were just too much against him.

“Being outnumbered and beaten with a block of wood, well that's just more than anyone would ask for in a fight," he said.

As his body works to heal from the wounds, Yang wants to warn others to be extra careful when walking alone at night.
