As violent crimes make there way into the news, Dong's guns in midtown sees more and more people coming in to the store. They’re first time buyers wanting to protect their homes and families from intruders.

David Stone says he knows guns, “I have been working with guns since 1967, 44 years.”

Stone is the president of Dong's Guns where business is booming.

“I think people are just nervous that somebody might break into their house,” he said.

So they're making the decision to buy a gun.

“More and more it's happening,” Stone said.

Of the around 100 guns they sell each week, Stone tells FOX23 50 go to first time buyers.

“If they don't have any previous experience with handguns, we try to steer them to a revolver, because it's basically fool proof.”

He says background checks are a must.

“99 percent of the time a person is approved instantly. They can pay for the weapon and then leave.”

Leave feeling a little better he says about having an answer to some of life's "what ifs?"

Stone also says in 2011 Tulsans are also buying more ammo, he sales are “drastically up.”
