Police have identified the victim in a domestic shooting last night in north Tulsa.

Police say 33-year-old Mark Masingale Jr. was shot by his mother's boyfriend inside her home near Sheridan and Tecumseh.

Masingale was a brother to twins Rebeika Powell and Kayetie Melchor, two of the victims of the quadruple shooting at the Fairmont Terrace Apartments back in January.

Charon Powell has now lost four of her six kids, three killed this year.

Police told FOX23 a fight between her son and her boyfriend led to her boyfriend shooting her son inside the house.

"He was one of the funniest people you would ever meet. He's sweet and he was very outgoing. He was always cracking jokes and everything," said Megan Powell, a cousin of Masingale.

She said her cousin was the life of the party at family events and a wonderful father of two.

"He loved to hang out with his kids. He actually just bought his son a four-wheeler. And he was talking to me about that yesterday," she said.

She said he took it very hard when his two sisters were killed in January.

"At least he doesn't have to miss his sisters anymore, and he doesn't have to go through that pain anymore. And he's in heaven now with them," she said.

But the rest of the family is left missing him, wondering why the man who supported them so much as they dealt with the twins' deaths early this year would allegedly turn a gun on one of them.

"Nobody would've thought he would have done it at all. I mean…I don't know what made him do this," she said.

The gunman told police it was self-defense in the midst of a fight, but Powell said the fight was over.

"Any reason to pull a gun out and shoot somebody, especially in front of the woman that you love, and it's the person you just shot's mother," she said.

Now she and the rest of the family are trying to support Charon Powell as they mourn another one of their own.

"He was loved very much by everybody," said Powell.

The shooter has not been arrested, and it will be up to the district attorney to decide if he was justified in shooting.
