Tulsa athletes were in Austin, Texas Sunday for the Livestrong Marathon.
One of those athletes was 23-year-old Mikeal Ball. For Ball, this was more than a race. He was going for a world record.
Ball ran the entire marathon with two tires on his shoulders. The tires weighed a total of 40 pounds. The tires came off of his Chevy Cobalt, and were replaced with new tires. Ball decided to recycle the tires by putting them into his workout routine.
"I really want to push my mind and body to the absolute limit," said Ball. "And if I can't find a race that does that, then I find a way to do so."
The athlete finished the 26.2 mile race in four and a half hours.
Ball is thought to be the first person to run a marathon with two tires on his shoulders. Members from Guinness Book of World Records will review the race.
