The Tulsa Zoo has received the Governor’s Disability Employment Award of Excellence for their work program for individuals with disabilities.
Zoo officials say the honor was awarded on October 10 at the Governor’s mansion in Oklahoma City. The zoo was nominated by its partner, BIOS, an organization that promotes the wellbeing of disabled individuals. The zoo’s work program for individuals with disabilities was implemented in 1993 and currently employs four individuals.
“We are honored to receive such a prestigious award and we will continue to make success possible for all employees,” said Terrie Correll, CEO of Tulsa Zoo Management, Inc.
The Governor’s Disability Employment Award of Excellence is awarded to outstanding employees with disabilities, organizations with work programs for disabled individuals, as well as media organizations.
