The Tulsa State Fair opens on Thursday and Tulsa police are working to prevent parking and traffic issues.

A letter was sent to people living in the Expo Square neighborhoods detailing how they are working to keep congestion to a minimum.

Parking is prohibited on one side of the street in those neighborhoods, within 10 feet of a fire hydrant, in yards, between curbs and sidewalks.

To help alleviate traffic strain, fair organizers and the city of Tulsa are providing alternate parking sites and shuttles.
The Fair Transit System will provide free shuttle service the entirety of the fair.

The parking and pick up spots are Tulsa Promenade Mall, 41st and Yale, on the south side of the garage; Nathan Hale High School, 6960 E. 21st; and Tulsa Public Schools Education Service Center, 3027 S. New Haven.

Shuttles will run Monday – Thursday from 6-11pm; Friday 6pm-midnight and Saturday and Sunday 12pm to midnight.

Police will be in the neighborhoods enforcing on street parking ordinances and the Working in Neighborhoods Department code enforcement officers will be doing the same as needed.

Illegally parking can lead to fines from $30-60 and in some instances the vehicles can be towed. Illegally parking in yards can lead to a $60 fine for the driver and $500 fine for property owners providing the space.
