A Tulsa County prison van carrying U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement inmates went to an Oklahoma City hospital after the van they were in was hit by a car on the Turner Turnpike on Friday evening.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troopers responded to the accident on the eastbound side of the Turner Turnpike, near Luther.
EMSA officials say a total of seven people, six prisoners and the driver of the second vehicle had to be transported to the University of Oklahoma Medical Center. All were in good condition.
The eastbound lanes of the turnpike were shutdown while the crash scene was cleared. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Major Shannon Clark with the Tulsa County Sheriff's office says the inmates were transferred into federal custody.
