Tulsa city councilors have voted without objection to crackdown on massage parlors.
For four years, law enforcers have been fighting for it. Now they have the means to help combat it.
Many Tulsa Police Officers are excited about those changes but it was delayed by a heated debate between councilors on stiffer bans for people arrested for prostitution in massage parlors.
"At the last hour we want to do a change," said Councilor Jack Henderson.
“I will also continue to express my disbelief at the defense of the community of prostitutes,” said Councilor Blake Ewing.
They fought to decide if a five to ten year ban for people arrested for prostitution was enough. In the end both sides compromised, making a decision most people were happy for.
“I'm very glad. It's a win for us to have this passed, said Kristin Weis, a resident in favor of the new ordinance. “But I would like it to go back through for an extension.”
The extension she’s referring to is lawmakers banning anyone arrested for prostitution in a massage parlor from getting a massage license for a lifetime.
