The proposed re-naming of the Brady District was brought up at Thursday’s Tulsa City Council Meeting.

Councilor Jack Henderson proposed a plan to change the name of Brady Street to Burlington Street. Henderson said Burlington Street was one of the names originally considered when the street was first built.

Some Tulsans want to re-name the street because of Tate Brady’s rumored ties to the KKK.

Thursday was the first reading of the proposal. The issue will be discussed and any potential changes addressed before a second reading, which would then lead to possible action.

Members of the Brady Arts District have voiced opposition to re-naming the area, saying it can be a testament to how far Tulsa has come since the race riots.

We need to rename the greenwood district too. It always reminds me of black men raping white women. I just don't know how you can't neglect that negative social stimuli.

If that offends you Jackie then why in blue blazes do you call yourself African American like it's a badge of honor. Africans dogged captured and auctioned off your ancestors to slavers and the name Africa does not offend you??? how ironic.
