Tulsa police said a truck hit the highway 169 bridge over 56th Street North on Thursday afternoon. ODOT crews were called to help clear concrete and debris that fell onto 56th street north.

Transportation officials told FOX23 that a vehicle hit the concrete barrier around 5 p.m. The driver is expected to be ok.

Drivers told FOX23 that traffic was backed up for a while on US-169 and some chose to take alternate routes home.

“I’ll just go around about way on a side road which will take on about 10-15 minutes to the drive,” said Jim Mills.

Drivers said that they feel like accidents are all too common.

“It’s seems like a reoccurring ordeal,” said Jason Frew, “Everybody is in a rush.”

ODOT spokesperson Kenna Carmon said that crews are expected to begin repairs to the concrete barrier as early as next week.
