The third Educare campus in Tulsa is now open. Macarthur Educare is located at S. 67th Ave. in East Tulsa. Infants 6 weeks old to 5 years-old who live at or below the poverty line are eligible to attend school there. The main focus is on early childhood development and preparing students for kindergarten.

Caren Calhoun, Executive Director for Educare, says statistics show kids born into family below the poverty-line have the odds stacked against them, but coming to an Educare campus increases their chances of success.

One of the pre-school teachers April Clark, said the kids learn basic skills like math, reading and writing. The teacher to student ratio is very small, making sure kids get the attention they need. There are only 17 Educare schools in the nation. The opening of Macarthur makes Tulsa the city with the most Educare schools in the nation.

There is a combination of both public and private funding. Macarthur opened its doors in August and is still accepting students.  You can find out how to enroll your kids by visiting

If someone needs 4 years and 46 weeks to prepare for Kindergarten, they have bigger issues that need tending to.
