Thieves are now targeting propane.

FOX23 told you about a shortage in our state and the rising prices.

Tulsa police are investigating reports of stolen propane tanks.

Propane tanks were stolen in two locations, about five miles apart in Tulsa.

At Lucky Stop Gas Station in east Tulsa, the owner said he locked up the gas station around 11 a.m. and that's when he thinks the thieves hit. The owner said he didn't realize anything was missing until he came out of the store at 2 p.m. and found a busted lock and the gate open.

The owner didn't want to go on camera, but he said at $45 a tank, that's a hit. His customers feel for him.

"That's sad," Lucky Stop customer Chris Ladd said. "The price of propane went up also; I guess the next big thing is people trying to get after it."

The neighborhood near East 30th Street was also hit. Two propane tanks were stolen.

Tulsa police told FOX23 that there aren't any suspects or surveillance video in either case.

Chris Ladd visits the gas station daily and says whatever the motivation was for the theft, it's unfortunate.

"We had Christmas gifts stolen out of our vehicle last year in this area, so I don't know if it's just the area or some bad people in the area," Ladd said.
