Sporting events being warned about the threat of terrorism. The number of people at a sports venue is the main attraction that terrorists see. Many security measures have been stepped up from an elaborate screening process into games, and not allowing certain products into the stadium.
Tulsa officials released a statement about the security at home games.
" The University of Tulsa is committed to the safety and security of our campus, including during special activities such as major sporting events. Our professional security office partners with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to identify and address areas of potential concern on a game-by-game basis."
Oklahoma's Homeland Security Director Kerry Pettingill has talked to security officials around the state dealing with sporting events and says many have enhanced their security measures. Including security exercises, more specific screening, and limiting what you can bring in to the game such as weapons, drinks, thermoses or coolers. He also says a threat at a stadium isn't new.
" That has been identified very early on as potential targets, and theres been a lot accomplished over the past 5 years," Pettingill said.
