The Okmulgee Police Department said a 19-year old man drowned after falling off of a boat at Dripping Springs Lake on Tuesday.

Police said Darrell Andrew Aldridge lost his balance and fell from the boat around 4 p.m. His friend tried to bring the boat around to rescue Aldridge from the water but they could not maneuver to him safely and he drowned.

Okmulgee Police, Okmulgee Park Rangers, Okmulgee Sheriff's Office, EMS, Okmulgee Fire Dept., Okmulgee D.A. and Creek Nation Light Horse responded to the scene. The body was recovered and he was pronounced dead on the scene.

Officials said the friend took the proper precaution by not jumping in the water also. Neither party was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
