Tulsa police are investigating a puzzling confrontation and shooting in East Tulsa that left a young teenager dead. It happened Wednesday just after five, in the 10-thousand block of East 33rd Street. Fox 23’s Douglas Clark has details.
The victim is a 14 year old boy. Family members tell us he was in Tulsa visiting and was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Family members fought back tears after learning their 14 year old brother had been gunned down in broad daylight.
“He didn’t deserve that,” says his brother. “I don’t know what happened. I’m trying to get to the bottom of it myself.”
Police say details are vague since witnesses were uncooperative.
“What we know is that there was a vehicle that drove by some individuals on foot. They thought they recognized the individuals in the car, called out to them, approached the car, the suspects inside the vehicle jumped out and started shooting,” says Captain Randy Hughes.
The victim, who family members call Coon, was shot twice and died at the scene.
“It’s always unfortunate for a life to end this short and we don’t know why,” says Captain Hughes.
Still in shock, family members are now remembering the times they had with their brother, and will miss his up-beat personality.
“Funny, outgoing, laid back. Always made people laugh. The life of the party,” recalls his sister.
Police are looking for a group of Hispanic males seen driving a brown Ford Taurus.
