Tulsa Public Schools announced it will sell bricks from the fire-ravaged Barnard building due to an overwhelming number of requests from students, alumni and staff of the former elementary School.

On Friday, Nov. 30, from 2 – 5 p.m., bricks will be made available to the public for $5 each. The bricks will be sold at the TPS Education Service Center in the Cheryl Selman Room. Only cash and checks will be accepted.

The Barnard building, most recently home to the Tulsa School of Arts and Sciences, burned to the ground in an early morning fire on Sept. 5\. Demolition of the property began in early October and is close to completion.

“I am not surprised by the large number of requests we have received for bricks from Barnard’s many fans,” said Dr. Keith Ballard, superintendent. “Built in 1925, the historical building is home to powerful memories for the staff and students who called it home over the years. We know it won’t bring back their school, but Barnard supporters will find comfort in having a memento from their cherished school.”

Bricks will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis, with proceeds to go back into the building general fund. Quantities are limited to the approximately 800 bricks that were salvaged from the site.

There is no limit on the number of bricks that may be purchased. Reservations may be made in advance by visiting It is the responsibility of the buyer to transport the bricks they purchase.
