Tulsa Public Schools scheduled a community forum to discuss the possible sale of the former Barnard site.
A reasonable offer has been received by the district for the site. However, the Board of Education has decided to hold making a decision on the sale until after meeting with members of the community surrounding the site.
Friends and neighbors are invited to the community forum from 6-7 p.m., Thursday, April 25 at Wilson Teaching and Learning Academy, 2710 E. 11th St.
Trish Williams, TPS chief financial officer, and Stephen R. Buford of Quapaw Investments LLC, the prospective buyer, will be in attendance. Buford has indicated that he wants to develop a medical rehabilitation facility on the site
Barnard was closed in 2011 as part of the Project Schoolhouse efficiency initiative.
The Tulsa School of Arts and Sciences, a charter school, moved into the building in the fall of 2012. A fire broke out early in the morning of Sept. 5, 2012 and the damage caused was so extensive the building was subsequently demolished.
