Tulsa Public Schools athletic director Stephanie Spring has resigned. Spring tendered her resignation Friday, and it was immediately accepted by TPS Superintendent Dr. Keith Ballard.
As we've reported, Spring has been on suspension since November when an investigation into a possible violation of the computer crimes act began. During that investigation, assistant athletic directors Latricia Pruitt and Jon Wheeler apparently disclosed they had accessed personal emails of former athletic department employee Cheryl Murphy. Murphy had been suspended as Spring's secretary. She was fired in December when she didn't report to a new work assignment within TPS. Pruitt has been reinstated at TPS but Wheeler also agreed to resign last week.
Spring has been with the district since 1990 and served as the Athletic Director since 1997. As a condition of her resignation she will be paid more than $15,000 in unused vacatin and sick time.
TPS released a statement Wednesday saying it is a personnel issue and no further comment can be made.
