TPS announces posthumous inductees for Athletic Hall of Fame

The selection committee for the Tulsa Public Schools Athletics Hall of Fame released the first group of inductees for the second annual Athletics Hall of Fame induction banquet.
Nine former student athletes and three coaches or administrators are included on this year’s list of inductees.
This year’s posthumous inductees will be:
•Jim Sellers: coach and athletics director at Edison High School;
•Woody West: coach and athletics director at Will Rogers and Nathan Hale high schools; and
•Gordon Morgan: coach at Will Rogers High School.
The committee will release the names of the nine remaining inductees who will represent each of TPS’ nine current high schools in the next three weeks.
The Tulsa Public Schools Athletics Hall of Fame was started last year to recognize individuals who have made a significant contribution to his or her team, school or the school district during his or her career participation with TPS athletics.
The second class’ 12 inductees will bring the total number of Hall of Fame members to 27.
The induction ceremony will be held at the DoubleTree at Warren Place on Jan. 16, 2014 beginning with a reception at 6 p.m. and a banquet to follow at 7p.m.

Tables are $1,000 and individual tickets are $100. Seating will be limited to the first 500 seats sold for the banquet.
