The Tulsa Public Schools Department of Athletics announced its first ever Athletics Hall of Fame Committee on Thursday.
The committee will prepare, nominate and select the first ever class of inductees into the TPS Athletic Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will take place in January 2013.
Gil Cloud, TPS director of athletics said committee members include Madeline Mims, Chris Lincoln, Terrell Lester, David Rader, J.V. Haney, Mike Mims, Robert Sprague, Mick Wilson and Cloud.
“We have a great collection of talent on our committee and each committee member knows the difficult task that we will undertake during the next few months,” Cloud said. “The wealth of talent that has come through the TPS athletics programs over the years is overwhelming. It is very important to us to select the most deserving people each year.”
The categories include: student athlete, coach, athletics administrator, school administrator or donor. Nominees for the Hall of Fame can include anyone in these categories with no historical limitations.
Each nominee must have made a significant contribution to his or her team, school or the school district during his or her career participation with TPS athletics. There will not be a set number of inductees per year; however, the committee wants to keep the number annually to around five inductees.
Nominations can be forwarded to any committee member or to Gil Cloud in the TPS athletics department at email@example.com. The nomination form can be found on the front page of the athletics department website at www.tulsaschools.org/athletics
