The Tulsa Police Department Mingo Valley Traffic Unit will focus on posted speed violations in active school zones throughout east Tulsa.
Mingo Valley Traffic Unit Officers will be randomly monitoring all active school zones in the Mingo Valley Division from January 7th through Friday, January 11th.
Offenders will get a citation for speeding in a school zone. The citation requires a court appearance with a fine of up to $500 and/or up to 30 days in jail; no warnings will be issued.
Schools in the area are returning to session from the winter break starting January 7th and children will again be crossing streets and walking to and from area schools. Police urge drivers to remain alert, refrain from using all electronic communication devices and heed all warning signs when approaching active school zones.
