The Tulsa Police Department is looking for a suspect in a sexual assault.
Police said on Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 7:45 a.m., an 18-year-old girl was sexually assaulted as she walked to school.
The Union High School student told officers that she walked passed an apartment complex in the area of 7200 S. 89th E. Avenue, and noticed a man walking in the complex. As she continued toward the school, she observed the man following her.
Police said while the victim was walking through the shopping complex on the north side of 9000 E. 71st Street, the man grabbed her from behind and forced her down into a retention area behind the shopping complex. The man sexually assaulted the victim before releasing her.
The victim returned home and notified police. The description of the man is very vague, and the attached surveillance photo shows the man from the back. Police said they thought the man was in the neighborhood and delayed releasing information while trying to locate him.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS or text TIP918 to CRIMES.
