While you're shopping, they're watching.
The police, that is.
They say the safe shopper program has been successful in the past, but that this year these towers will be more beneficial than ever.
Tis' the season for parking lot crime.
FOX23 spoke with shopper Richard Linihan, he tells us he's shopping for a few different things.
"Godiva chocolates and looking for something sparkly for a girly girl."
While shoppers look for their treasures, thieves are look to be the Grinch of the holiday season.
Something the Tulsa Police Department has helped to limit.
Cpl. Brian Collum tells FOX23,
"Prior to us coming out here, we had a record number of burglaries from vehicles, purse snatchings, and things like that. It was out of control."
The safe shopper program is a program police continue to improve.
Thanks to the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office, police now have two towers in the parking lot of Woodland Hills Mall.
Each year, they get a better idea of where to put them.
"Where it is now, there you can see most of your cars are parked," Collum said.
"On a day like this when it's about medium capacity, the tower can cover all those cars on the upper level and they also cover the lower level."
They're not just looking out for you from the towers.
They're also in the parking lot in their cars and on their bikes.
"Since we've been out on bikes we've only had one burglary from a vehicle,"Collum told us.
That's why shoppers like Richard Linihan feel safer now than ever before.
"I like it a lot. Something that the older folks that really need protection.
If they're not out with their own families shopping, this should give them some sense of security," Linihan said.
Police will be out in full force every weekend now through the holiday season.
