Tulsa police are cracking down on drunk drivers.

Officers will now start using portable breathalyzer tests to determine if drivers are over the legal limit of 0.08.

Officer Craig Murray with TPD, says it’s not the final blood alcohol content test, but it will be used to determine borderline cases. Until now, officers have performed field tests, like standing and lifting one leg to figure out if a driver is drunk. Murray said the new tests will take out any second-guessing.

The devices are paid with grant money through grant money with the Oklahoma Office of Highway Safety. The breathalyzers will be split up between three TPD divisions: Gilcrease, Mingo Valley and Riverside.

But only hispanics and construction workers?,I remember when they used to publish the names and addresses of drunk drivers you never saw addresses of south of town or north of town only the working class parts of town,at the time I knew a couple rich guys who were bragging about getting stopped drunk and the police giving them a ride home.If the machine has not been recalibrated every 3 months the results are worthless it is the manufactures recommended time period.Don't drink and hate drunk drivers but think their motives are more sinister than stopping drunk driving.

Its also interesting to note that FOP tells officers to refuse field sobriety tests if they are ever stopped by another department. They are designed to be failed, and that's sort of an admission.

You would have to be really drunk to consent to this test. They say it's to provide "probable cause" but they legally needed that to stop you in the first place.
