TPD announces reduction in major crime rates

The Tulsa Police Department reported a reduction in major crimes going into the last quarter of the year.

Preliminary statistics show a decrease in part one crimes as well as fatality collisions.

Part one crimes are reported to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting Program for statistical purposes. These crimes include Aggravated Assault, Auto Theft, Burglary, Homicide, Rape and Robbery.

In addition to a decrease in crime rates officer’s response time to emergency calls has decreased as well. 

The following preliminary statistics compares 2012 to 2013 year to date, being January 1 to September 30.

  • 1.9% reduction in part 1 crimes
  • 25% reduction in high injury/fatality collision
  • 6.5% increase in priority 1 call response in less than 3 minutes
