TPD: Major crimes down from 2012

Tulsa Police Chief Chuck Jordan says overall crime is down in Tulsa.

Jordan talked to FOX23 about the crime rates for the 2012 fiscal year compared to the 2013 fiscal year. The fiscal year for TPD is July 1st through April 30th.

According to the attached report all crimes classified as ‘schedule 1’ are down. Those crimes include homicide, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny and grand theft auto.

There were 47 homicides in 2012 and 41 in 2013. There was also a large drop in burglaries, a 12% drop in reported burglaries was reported.

Overall there was a 7% drop in schedule 1 crimes from 2012 to 2013.
