A high-speed chase led to five arrests Monday night, including juveniles.

FOX23 went downtown to uncover what police believe the suspects were planning.

Officers said they think the five arrested, were planning a shooting.

They said the suspects had five guns and that they were throwing them out the window during the chase Monday night.

TPD said two local Hispanic gangs are at odds.

"One that's called Surrenos which is actually one of our larger gangs here in Tulsa. The one they are feuding here right now is called Florencia," said Tulsa Police Department Sgt. Sean Larkin.

Police have been investigating shootings between the two rival gangs. Larkin said his team intercepted another.

"Gangster mentality. You recover five guns. There is no doubt it prevented another shooting from happening," Larkin said.

Larkin's team was keeping an eye out for the car and one another.

Monday when they saw the two together, Larkin said police tried to pull them over.

"One of them pulled over right away. In that car officers recovered a Mac 10 pistol-type machine gun and a shotgun," Lark said.

Police said that’s when the other car took off.

Larkin said the chase started near Apache and Lewis in north Tulsa.

They went through east Tulsa and all the way to the 41st Street and Yale Avenue area.

Larkin said the three people inside were throwing guns and ammunition out along the way.

He said the driver eventually pulled into a Firestone parking lot.

"They got to the point where they just knew they weren't going to get away, and that's when they pulled over and actually surrendered," Larkin said.

Larkin said the chase reached speeds up to 75 mph but that others were never in danger.

He said surprisingly enough, the driver didn't make any reckless moves. The charges in the case are still pending.

Heck, why chase them out of North Tulsa? Just let the bangers stay there and shoot each other.
