Oklahoma House Speaker T.W. Shannon just announced that he will run for the U.S. Senate when Senator Tom Coburn steps down at the end of the year.

Speaker Shannon made the announcement at the Tulsa Historical Society just after 8 this morning. He will also make similar announcements in his Home District of Lawton and at the State Capitol today.

The Speaker will have to step down from his role to pursue the seat in the Senate but has said "I want to ensure a smooth transition that does not disrupt the important business of the state."

Next to Gov. Failin, he's the #2 recipient of money from the private prison industry, so he's already bought and paid for.

We don't need another preacher in the Senate. This clown doesn't even know where the "unalienable rights" phrase comes from...nor can he even spell it correctly. And he talks a big 'freedom' speech but does not really believe it for everyone.
