Controversy over Rutgers basketball coach Mike Rice's behavior continues, despite the university firing him.
School officials fired Rice after a videotape aired showing him shoving, grabbing and throwing balls at players in practice and using gay slurs during practice.
Former Oklahoma State University basketball coach Eddie Sutton was shocked at the behavior in the video, “as far as hitting them or kicking them, you know, there is no place for that… i was shocked, because I've never seen a basketball coach do anything like that.” Sutton added the best motivation for a coach is often to be positive.
Former Oklahoma University basketball coach Billy Tubbs had similar thoughts, “you have to show players a lot of love too. You don’t call your player a name of any kind whether it's a profane name of whatever.”
Both men agree there is no place for this type of motivation in college basketball.
