The Osage County Sheriff’s office arrested two suspected copper thieves after getting alerted by the Tulsa Police Department.
TPD says the Gilcrease Division’s Copper Theft Task Force let the Osage County Sheriff’s Office know Jeremy Allen Young and Matthew Russell Potts were suspected copper thieves.
The task force recognized these suspects as suspected active copper thieves. During the investigation officers say they located them in the area of 5000 West 53rd Street North.
Officers say they observed Potts and Young loading a large amount of stolen phone cable into the bed of Young's truck. Officers were able to follow the suspects and contacted the Osage County Sheriff’s Office who responded immediately to assist.
Members of the Osage County Sheriff's Office searched the vehicle and say they found what appeared to be trafficking amounts of a controlled dangerous substance along with burglary tools and the large amount of stolen AT&T phone cable.
Young and Potts were transported to the Osage County jail and face charges of Entering with Intent to Steal Copper, Distribution of CD, Possession with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Burglary Implements and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.
