One man is charged with first degree murder for the city's 31st homicide of the year.

Agents with the Eastern Oklahoma Violent Crimes Task Force arrested Kris Bridges in McAlester for the shooting death of 24-year old Quincy Darrell Jones.

Jones was found shot at the Fairmont Terrace Apartments near 61st and Peoria around 10:30pm on August 25th.  Police say Jones was talking to some men in front of an apartment building, when one of the men pulled out a handgun and shot Jones.  He ran across the parking lot before collapsing.

Agents acting on information from the Northern Oklahoma Violent Crimes Task Force, the City of Wagoner Police Department and Tulsa Police set up on a residence associated with Bridges.  They say when agents knocked on the door, Bridges ran out the back. Bridges hid in a wooded area and was apprehended shortly after he ran from the house.  Bridges is awaiting extradition to Tulsa.

On Monday, police also said they wanted to talk to Jamel Saafir about the shooting, they have talked to him and he is no longer considered a person of interest.

Police say there was another shooting at the Fairmont Terrace Apartments a few hours later. Investigators believe it may have been in retaliation to the first shooting. Tyriq Saafir, Jamel Saafir's brother was shot and taken to the hospital in stable condition.

So many young me living their lives without contributing anyhing worthwhile to our community or to their familes. Choosing crime and lawlessness over accomplishment and the sense of satisfaction it brings. They will never know what it feels like to be a success or respected for making their community, families or their own lives better. Sad, lost, mentally and morally defective generation.
