Student committed suicide at Coweta school

Coweta police have confirmed there was a shooting at the Coweta Intermediate School.
Police are on scene and have secured the area. School officials say the shooting was a suicide. FOX23 has learned it was a male, 9th grade student.
In a news conference just after 10 am on Monday school officials said the 9th grade center will be closed the rest of the day and parents have been notified they can pick up their students at the high school gymnasium. School is not releasing further details, but said school is as normal in the rest of the district.
Friends tell FOX23 the student was Triston Stephens.
Coweta police are investigating the incident. The initial call came at 8:35 and three officers were on scene in seconds. Police say the school did "an outstanding job" the intermediate high school and high school were placed on lock down immediately after the shooting.
There have been reports of suicides at Gore and Vian schools. FOX23 talked to officials at those schools on Monday afternoon. The Gore Superintendent tells FOX23 a 12-year old girl died over the weekend and grief counselors were at the school, but did not say the death was a suicide. Vian school officials say there was no student death reported on or off campus.
