(OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - July 1) - The state medical examiner's office has been stripped of its national accreditation.
A spokesperson for the National Association of Medical Examiners says a recent inspection found a number of deficiencies including understaffing, funding problems, and poor equipment and facilities.
The spokesperson says this is the first time the office has failed accreditation.
The inspector called the staff dedicated and noted the high quality of their work. The agency's chief investigator resigned in March amid a sexual harassment scandal.
His replacement started on the job in May.
