TULSA, Okla. - Chief Paul Williams is leading the Springfield Police Department in a high-profile murder investigation that is getting national attention.
FOX23 found out he spent a long time here at the Tulsa Police Department.
"It's really hard to speak on what he's going through, or what he's having to deal with," said Tulsa Police Officer Leland Ashley.
Officer Ashley worked with Chief Williams.
FOX23 did some research and learned Williams retired from the Tulsa Police Department after 29 years of service.
Before he left Tulsa, he was promoted to the rank of major.
He was sworn in as Springfield's chief of police in July 2010.
Chief Williams has a master's degree in criminal justice administration from NSU in Tahlequah.
During his time spent in Tulsa, Maj. Williams was involved in outreach in North Tulsa, working with the Christian Ministers Alliance, in 2006, to identify at-risk youth, build relationships, and get young people to trust and confide in officers.
